Why Hire Dan Conway & AZCST

My 30 years of experience in the tile business all comes from old-school formality which I’ll get into in the next paragraph. I first want to say that I did not get to where I’m at today because someone handed me a pile of money and presto “I’m now a ceramic tile contractor”. I paid my dues by learning every aspect the trade has to offer. Before you decide to sign a contract with a flooring company or tile contractor or tile setter, ask your sales person if they were a master mechanic before they started working as a tile contractor. Well, I am very proud to say that I was more than just a tile setter before I passed my contractors exam.

Here is a detailed outline to how my career as a tile contractor started .

  1. Worked for my dad (he was a very successful 2nd generation tile contractor) as a tile setter's helper for 5 years.  Why? because it’s very important to see many different types of installation methods before you can call yourself a tile setter.
  2. Worked as a tile setter for five years.  Worked my way up the ladder with many tile contractors and became their go-to-guy on installations that demanded the most experienced setter as many of thousands of dollars was at stake.
  3. Started my own business with my oldest brother John Conway.  Between his office skills and my mechanical skills Conway Tile Company was the go-to-company for all of the builders in Southern Arizona.  I quickly had to learn how to handle many employees and train them to perfection.
  4. Without getting into detail, I spent the next 15 years of my life learning project and business management, then the last 7 years at Conway Tile Company, I became the best accounts receivable expert in the business.  My collections were 99.999% of everything we billed out. I also learned the Granite Slab business during this time.
  5. Between 2000 and 2003 I worked as a personal consultant in the tile and granite fabrication trade.
  6. It was time for me to move on and start my own company.  Conway Stone & Tile was born in 2003.

If you desire a man with experience level second to none, then look no further.  I also have taken on jobs that many would not touch because of the complexity creating too much risk for them.
